Eric Pickersgill is a professional photographer who took particular notice of this trend — namely, people staring into the phones in their hands. These scenes served as inspiration for the now-viral photo series "Removed," in which Pickersgill removes the subjects' phones right before he snaps the photo. In this video, we go behind the scenes to the making of these haunting, surreal images — and the sad story behind the first photo.
